MAN Diesel & Turbo and SpecTec Collaboration Takes Significant Step Forward
With the recent signing of a letter of intent, MAN Diesel & Turbo and the SpecTec Group have taken a further step towards forming a strategic partnership aimed at expanding ShipdexTM activities within the maritime sector. The partnership will also explore how the two companies can cooperate to improve their mutual customers’ experience in using their products.
One goal of the partnership is to win more shipowners over to the clear advantages of opting for the Shipdex data format that offers modern instruction manuals in electronic format, and which are applicable to both newbuildings and when replacing the maintenance systems of ships in service. Generally, shipowners stand to benefit tremendously from the improvement in data quality that Shipdex offers.
"With main-engine data accounting for more than 30% of a ship’s maintenance-management-system’s entire data-content, it is only natural for us to engage closely with the biggest CMMS provider in the market. In this way, we can increase customer satisfaction with operating engines bearing our brand," says Henrik Striboldt, Business Development Manager, MAN Diesel & Turbo.
A second goal for the two companies is to explore how shipowners can benefit from the traditional pools of spare-parts catalogue data and maintenance data generally available. "The adoption of Shipdex will complement SpecTec’s AMOS suite and will significantly contribute to reducing costs, increasing quality and making accurate technical data available onboard ships. Furthermore, manufacturers and shipowners will be able to reuse – for different purposes – the same technical information produced and supplied in Shipdex format and then will obtain support ‘as operated ship status’ for their life cycle,” says Marco Vatteroni, ILS Manager, SpecTec Group.
